Overview
The city of Albert Lea, MN has adopted the following codes:
- 2007 Minnesota Building Code, based on the 2006 IBC. Minn. R.§ 1305.0011.
- 2007 Minnesota Residential Code, based on the 2006 IRC, with amendments. Minn. R. § 1309.0010.
- 2003 Minnesota Guidelines for the Rehabilitation of Existing Buildings, based on the 2000 GREB with amendments. Minn. R. § 1311.0010.

The State Building Code is the standard that applies statewide for the construction, reconstruction, alteration, and repair of buildings and other structures of the type governed by the code. Subsection (b) states: The State Building Code supersedes the building code of any municipality. Minn. Stat. Ann. § 326B.121-1(b) (State Building Code)
